CARY, N.C. – The University of Tampa Spartans made history at the 2025 NCAA Division II Baseball Championship, defeating the University of Central Missouri to secure their second consecutive national title and a record-setting 10th championship overall.
The Spartans clinched the best-of-three series at the USA Baseball National Training Complex with an emphatic 11-5 victory in Game 3. After splitting the first two games, Tampa pulled away with a dominant offensive performance and strong pitching to cap off a historic season.
Tampa becomes the winningest program in Division II baseball history, surpassing Florida Southern with its 10th national crown. The Spartans finish the 2025 season with a program-best 55-10 record.
The championship game was highlighted by clutch hitting and timely defense. Tampa’s offense was led by a balanced lineup, including standout performances from MVP Jake Armstrong, who went 3-for-4 with a home run and 4 RBIs, and Brady House, who added 2 hits and 3 runs scored.
On the mound, Ryan Slater earned the win, delivering five strong innings while limiting a potent Central Missouri lineup. The Spartans’ bullpen shut the door, allowing just one run over the final four innings.
Central Missouri, appearing in its fourth national title series, battled throughout the tournament but couldn’t contain Tampa’s momentum. The Mules were led by Logan McGuire, who homered in the loss, and Tyler McCall, who finished the postseason with 12 RBIs.
With the win, Tampa’s dynasty continues to grow under head coach Joe Urso, who now owns six national championships at the helm. The Spartans have won titles in 2006, 2007, 2013, 2015, 2019, 2023, 2024, and 2025, solidifying their place atop Division II baseball.
