MIAMI GARDENS, FL — The Howard Bison edged out the Florida A&M Rattlers 10–9 in the 2025 Invesco QQQ Orange Blossom Classic at Hard Rock Stadium, capped off by a dramatic, last-second 43-yard field goal.

Game Summary

In the second quarter, Howard's quarterback Tyriq Starks, making his collegiate debut as a graduate transfer, orchestrated a methodical 10-play, 53-yard drive. He capped it off with a 2-yard touchdown strike to freshman CJ Neely, giving the Bison a 7-0 lead.

Florida A&M's kicker, Daniel Porto, kept the Rattlers in the game with three field goals from 37, 33, and 18 yards. His final kick put FAMU ahead 9-7 with just 1:49 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Clutch Finish

On the game’s final possession, Starks calmly guided the Bison 49 yards in 10 plays. A crucial 21-yard completion to K.D. Mosley put Howard in field goal range. With the clock expiring, Matt Conord drilled a 43-yard field goal — the longest of his career and his first game-winner — to seal Howard’s dramatic 10–9 victory.
